What was the highlight of Hotel La Battigia

Nice stay in April

The location is a little remote and it was not crowded in April, so we had plenty of peace and quiet. I found out that the crew of Ocean's 12 rented the entire hotel when they filmed some scenes in Scopello and they have pictures and autographs on the walls.

Breakfast was basic, but the menu for lunch and dinner in the restaurant was quite good.

Vacation at the beach.

Hotel was located at the beach, had umbrellas and chairs. Hotel had pool. Breakfast was very good by Italian standards - eggs and bacon, croissants, different cheeses and local cured sausage. Nutella and breakfast cereals etc. Room was small for one queen bed and two single beds (one single bed was actually sofa converted to bed).

Hotel restaurant was quite pricey. Beach had trash which is unfortunately too common in Sicily. Both Waze and google maps could not correctly find way to hotel for some reason. Coffee from Nestle machine was average. Rooms had drying racks outside but ours was smashed.

the breakfast was great.and the view was awesom. not to mention a beautiful beach and a great resraurant.

Perfect location, imperfect hotel

1. View from the room was nothing like advertised on Booking. We were informed that "deluxe" was a category, and apparently we got the worst view (ground floor, next to wooden structures/recycle bin). A lot of people coming by, looking directly in the window/terrace. Directly next to swimming pool. 2. Bathroom door was not properly fitted to frame. Had to push it hard to attempt to close it. Same with shutters and terrace windows. 3. Wind was howling under the main door. 4. Definitely not soundproof. Hotel decided to rent restaurant/pool area for birthday party and it was hard to sleep. 5. During aforementioned party main area of restaurant, including outside terrace with seaview, was closed to regular guests. Only internal part of restaurant (during normal operation considered as service area) was available, and all of that without any notice. Not expected form **** hotel. 6. Eventually we were kind of forced to eat outside the hotel (scopello) 25 minutes by car - all in all a good choice, as food was much better there 7. Not clean/need refurbish - shower area needs a total makeover, same the walls and doors (even locks were coming off the wall) 8. Private beach was not really that private - we were once asked to move by fisherman using that area around sundown. 9. Breakfast below expectations - definitely room for improvement. 10. No kettle 11. In current state I would not give more than ***, and I don't consider it worth the price.

1. Location is PERFECT. Couple of meters from the sea. Sand beach, beautiful views. 2. Clean swimming pool with shower area. 3. Staff - very friendly, very nice, very helpful! When confronted about the view - they offered "as a gift" upgrade for next night to "best room". View was much better, also room much bigger. Highly appreciated. 4. Even though not everything was perfect (as above) we spent there a very relaxing time (reading a book, sunbathing, swimming and listening sound of the sea). Thus, if only the hotel improves at least couple of the above flaws, the place can be perfect :)

Bad hotel sad experience…

The hotel is very uncomfortable. You can hear everythg from your room who walk in coreidor or in upstairs. There is bot elevator and no bellboy , you should carry your luggagrs for 40 stairs :( The building is not good for a hotel. Completly disappointment!

Definitely not a 4 star More like a two star Must have car and be able to climb stairs

Friendly staff, proximity to beach & sea, Wi Fi ok,

Menu same for lunch as dinner. No Chicken, beef, pork on the menu No pizza, No Ice Cream on desert menu Table spacings at breakfast were too close together No scrambled eggs on most mornings No Toast on any morning NO LIFT Isolated location with little tourist development around. I bus to Palermo per Day 7.30 am Must have a CAR to stay here

A fantastic gem of a find.

Superbly situated directly on the beach. A modern, comfortable hotel. They gave us the poolside rooms with superb views across the bay. The open-air and glass-enclosed restaurant overlooks the beach and bay. We ordered some excellent seafood dishes, and the server recommended an excellent local white wine to go with them. My veal steak was generous but underdone. The chef sent out a new portion perfectly cooked.

Although there was a kettle and tea, there was no coffee available in the room, so you had to go to the bar. The shower cubical was a little small for us normal-sized people.

The sound of the waves washing ashore was very relaxing!.....Excellent

The staff were friendly, the room with a balcony overlooking the sea was awesome, can't say enough about the food, breakfast, dinner, all was excellent!

The sea was a bit rough during our stay, and the pool a bit cool, but comes with late October weather!

Amazing beach, and relaxing location!

Location is amazing!! Room is clean. Not the most comfortable bed/pillows. Clean beach! Clean water. Nice pool! Private mostly. Off the beaten path, don't expect city life. Very safe!! Sicily is very safe, low crime. Everyone we met was friendly, warm, communicative, except hotel staff. We traveled near the end of season to avoid over crowding and the weather/beach was perfect in beginning September! We wanted to relax on a gorgeous beach and sightsee, not be overwhelmed by heat or tourism. Goal accomplished.

Front desk staff was rude and unaccomdating. No warmth. We asked to be part of an excursion, and they didn't follow up. We did this sight seeing without the travel agency/staff help. It ended up less expensive and more fun to plan ourselves. Find a taxi driver you trust or rent a car, because you cannot easily get to sight seeing destinations from the property. Segesta is totally worth it. So are the boating trips from Castellammare. Breakfast at the hotel is great and free, so fill up. Skip their dinner restaurant!!! Overpriced and meh. They do NOT allow outside food or drink, which is very strange to me. This would be ok if the food/wine selections were better, offered kindly, and available all day. Probably because I am American and our nicest hotels allow food/drink, even when they have a restaurant. The nearby markets have basic toiletries, delicious(!!) foods, wine, beer and are walking distance and very accommodating. I was traveling with my friend, our husbands aren't really travelers so we go together. We never felt unsafe walking or sight seeing. We did feel disappointed by front desk/concierge, that was our only real gripe. Bring your own hair conditioner and lotion, they do not include as a provided toiletry.
